Description	:	Gordon Frank Shuck, 73, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Kirkhoff) Shuck, was born June 10, 1927 at Edgar. He died Saturday at Bryan LGH, Lincoln. Gordie, as he was known by his family and friends grew up in the Edgar community and attended school there. He served with the Merchant Marines enlisting on July 28, 1945. He owned and operated Shuck Body... Read More	Gordon Frank Shuck, 73, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Kirkhoff) Shuck, was born June 10, 1927 at Edgar. He died Saturday at Bryan LGH, Lincoln. Gordie, as he was known by his family and friends grew up in the Edgar community and attended school there. He served with the Merchant Marines enlisting on July 28, 1945. On Feb. 6, 1946, he married Shirley Lindberg at Mankato. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a son, David, in 1947 and a daughter, Jennifer, in 1950. He owned and operated Shuck Body Shop from 1946 to the early 1970s when he sold it. Along with the body shop he operated Shuck Auto Salvage. Besides his ventures in the automobile industry, he farmed and raised cattle. He had many interests and hobbies, but one of his favorites was auto rac- ing. He raced from 1947 to 1958 throughout the entire Midwest. In 1998 he was inducted into the Nebraska Racing Hall of Fame and in 1999 he was inducted into the National Midget Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Church of the Plains and American Legion Post was assistant chief of Edgar Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by parents; his brothers, Robert and Ronald Lee; and a sister, Leah. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Edgar; a son, David Shuck, Wichita; daughter, Jennifer Bondegard, Edgar; brothers, Wendell Shuck, Edgar, Jim Shuck, Whitesboro, N.Y., and Jerry Shuck, Edgar; a sister, Gloria Anderson, Ong; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were Wednesday at the William Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar. The Rev. Rick Cepris offici- ated. Burial with military rites was in the Edgar Cemetery. Superior Express February 15, 2001
