Wisner was born July 8, 1920 at Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilman H. Wisner and died May 30, 1954 at Brainerd, Minnesota. Services were conducted from the Andrle-Creps Funeral Home in Eldora. Burial was in the Eldora Cemetery. Wisner attended the Eldora schools. While still a student in high school here he became a dance instructor. During those years and for a while after he was graduated from high school Wisner, accompanied by his mother, conducted dance schools and recitals in Eldora and central Iowa. He entered the United States Army in 1942, became a Drill Sergeant in the infantry and later a Second Lieutenant. After becoming First Lieutenant he was sent overseas to the European Theater. While in England he served with a Harbor Craft Co. as Captain on a British Zed Landing craft hauling cargo and troops. He was later wounded. Following his discharge from the Army after World War II he became a member of a reserve unit and was recalled into the service as First Lieutenant at the beginning of the Korean conflict. After a year and half of training troops in this country he was sent to Japan and Korea and was later the Commanding Officer at a camp near Pusan, Korea. Upon his return to the United States he was made a Captain. He was discharged at Camp Carson, Colorado in January 1954. In April of his year Wisner was named an officer in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at Brainerd, Minnesota. Death was apparently due to a heart attack. Mr. Wisner was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilman Wisner. He had been a resident of Brainerd for about seven years. Mr. Wisner was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was born July 8, 1920. The body was taken to Eldora, Iowa for services.
