Description	:	Gordon Herbert Giger, son of David A. and Zetta Perrill Giger, was born November 30, 1920 on a farm near Guide Rock, Nebraska. He passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 1991 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 6 days. Read More	Gordon Herbert Giger, son of David A. and Zetta Perrill Giger, was born November 30, 1920 on a farm near Guide Rock, Nebraska. He passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 1991 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 6 days. In February 1927, Gordon moved with the family to a farm two miles north of Red Cloud, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood. He received his elementary education in rural school, District No. 75; graduating from the Red Cloud HIgh School with the class of 1940.In 1947 he moved to Deshler, Nebraska where he was employed at the broom factory. It was there he married Arleen Holtzen on July 3, 1949. This union was blessed with two daughters, Linda and Sharon. In 1951 they moved to Beatrice, Nebraska where he was employed in a theater as a projectionist and in 1963 he moved his family to Kearney, Nebraska where he attended Kearney State College and was employed as department head for the Motor Vehicle Department of Buffalo County, from which he retired in 1986. Gordon was baptized in early childhood and confirmed into the Lutheran faith as an adult in 1948 at Kiowa Church in Davenport, Nebraska. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney where he served for 13 years as the Sunday School Superintendent, was active in Lutheran Laymen’s League, the senior choir and evangelism work and served on various boards and committees. In April 1988 he and Arleen moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to be near their daughter, Sharon and family. At the time of his death, he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Clarence and Albert. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arleen; two daughters, Linda and husband Larry Weyand of Yakima, Washington and Sharon and husband Tom Bliemeister of Lincoln, Nebraska; his sister, Florence Turner of Red Cloud, Nebraska; four brothers, Elmer and wife, Ruth of Superior, Nebraska, Harold and wife, Phyllis of Lakewood, Colorado and Ralph and wife, Roberta of Stewartville, Minnesota; five grandsons, David and Matthew Bliemeister of Lincoln, Nebraska and James, Darin and Brian Wayand of Yakima, Washington; a number of nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
