Read More	GORDON LEE NAHNSEN 1935 - 2009 Gordon Lee Nahnsen was born May 8, 1935, on the family farm southwest of Schleswig, Iowa, in Hanover Township, to Leo and Martha Huebner Nahnsen. He died April 6, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of seventy-three. Gordon was baptized in Christ on June 2, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, and confirmed on May 1, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. He attended country school and high school in Schleswig, graduating with the class of 1953. On June 7, 1959, Gordon was united in marriage to Joan Teut at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. The couple resided on the family farm southwest of Schleswig until 1989 when they moved to their new home on the golf course in Schleswig. Gordon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. He was a past member of the Schleswig Community Club, past president of the Crawford County Cattlemen's Association, served on the Crawford County Extension Council, and past president of the Golf Course Board of Directors. He loved farming and continued helping his son Neal, when possible, through his final harvest in 2008. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, especially basketball and baseball. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He sold Vigortone Feed Products for many years, winning many sales awards. He especially loved fishing in Minnesota with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Martha. Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his wife Joan; one son, Neal and his wife Doris; one daughter, Lori and her husband Gene; three grandchildren: Paul, Adam and Jena; one sister, Rheta and her husband Ed; two nieces and two nephews; and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Merle Mahnken officiated the service and graveside rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Organist Marlene Hight provided accompaniment for hymns, "Lift High the Cross," "The Lamb" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." Serving as honorary pallbearers were Roger Friedrichsen, Dick Frank, Ervin Neddermeyer and Gerald Pedersen. Serving as pallbearers were Rawlo Kastner, Norm Rossow, Brad Schultz, Gaylord Boeck, Arlen Meseck and Galen Ferry. The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid.
