Rheta Antoinette Nahnsen was born March 23, 1930, in Paton, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Martha (Huebner) Nahnsen. She attended country school and graduated from Schleswig High School in 1948. She married Edward John Ehler on June 4, 1950, in Schleswig, Iowa. They moved to Tripp in 1952, where Edward owned and operated the local newspaper and Rheta worked for the Gedney Pickle Factory for several years. They moved to Parkston in 1969, where they ran the Parkston Advance newspaper. In 1975, she started The Flower House and operated it until 1985. Later, she began another business, Ceramics Plus and operated this store until retiring in 1999. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the adult choir and directed the youth choir and youth group. She was also a member of the Parkston Commercial Club and enjoyed cross stitching, puzzles and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Edward; two daughters, Linn (Kevin) Koontz of Coppell, TX, and Jeri Ehler of Parkston; two sons, Scott (Phyllis) Ehler and Marc (Kimberly) Ehler, both of Parkston; four grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Joan Nahnsen of Schleswig, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary Sue Ehler in infancy and one brother, Gordon Nahnsen. The Parkston Advance, June 9, 2010
