His parents were William Ralph and Letta Mae (Scott) Kent. He had lived in Oswego since 1962, moving from Wausa, NE. His parents were William Ralph and Letta Mae (Scott) Kent. He had lived in Oswego since 1962, moving from Wausa, NE. He graduated from the Humboldt Kansas High School before attending Kansas University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a glider pilot in the European theatre. He worked as a rural mail carrier for several years, retiring in 1979. He had delivered mail through the Oswego, Edna, and Bartlett, Kansas post offices. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Oswego, KS. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, and the Elks Club. His favorite pastime was sitting down with a good book. Gordon was married to Betty Ann Ronsick on Dec. 23, 1945 in Humboldt, KS. She passed away Nov. 20, 1995. Two sisters and one brother also preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Darrel Kent, Tulsa, OK and Duane Kent, Castle Rock, CO; one daughter, Cynthia Sanders, Oswego, KS; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego, KS. His final resting place will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mr. Kent's name to the Harry Hynes Hospice. (I'm sure you have this memorial in the wrong cemetery. It should be Mount Hope, Humboldt, Allen County, KS. His brother Douglas Scott Kent is buried there and he is named in the obituary. Humboldt Cemetery is in Geary County near Junction City, KS. Connie Langvardt)
