He died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Pierce Manor. ——— He was born Jan. 7, 1930, at Brandon, Colo., the son of William and Mathilda (Hoffmann) Fehringer. He attended Bloomfield Public Schools and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948. He served as a switchboard operator in the Marine Corps from Jan. 17, 1952, to Jan. 11, 1954, in the Korean War. He married Virginia Maly Feb. 1, 1954, at St. Ludger's Catholic Church, Creighton. They moved to a farm west of Wausa where they lived one year. They then moved to a farm north of Bloomfield, then had a farm sale and moved to Kearney in 1984, where Gordon sold insurance for the Knights of Columbus Insurance. They moved back to Bloomfield from Kearney for one year. The couple then moved to Pierce in November of 1989, where he worked at Kolterman Equipment and 10 years as custodian at the Pierce High School. Gordon had been at the Pierce Manor since December of 2010. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pierce, Knights of Columbus member of Pierce, Norfolk Knights of Columbus-4th Degree Council member, American Legion of Pierce, VFW of Bloomfield and the Foresters. Survivors include two sons, William and wife Celine Fehringer of Pierce, David Fehringer and wife Sarah Hall of River Falls, Wis.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark and wife Ellen Fehringer of Bloomfield, Norbert and wife Florence Fehringer of Arizona; three sisters, Eileen and husband Bernie Newton of Waverly, Rita and husband Gerald Brabec of Clarkson, Jeanette and husband John Andreason of Seward; sister-in-law Loreli Fehringer of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Virginia Feb. 16, 2007; three brothers, Cletus, Robert and Stanley; one great-granddaughter, Norah. Organist will be Kathy Draeger with St. Joseph Choir hymns, "Shelter Me, O God," "Eye Has Not Seen," "You are Mine," "Loving and Forgiving." Casket bearers are grandchildren Michaela Mclain, Gordon Fehringer, Annette Hartman, Brooke Schug, Benjamin Fehringer, Adam Fehringer, Joseph Fehringer.
