Christian Isaak and August Isaak Jr. (1873) parents were Christine Ziegler and August Isaak Sr. (1833) who immigrated to South Dakota with their entire family in 1878. ********************************* THE GOTTLIEB ISAAK FAMILY Candidate for State Senator on the Republican ticket from the 48th legislative district comprising, Mercer, Oliver and Dunn counties is Mr. Isaak who was born in Dakota Territory at Parkston, S.D., in 1883. His parents originally were citizens of Russia but had migrated to the Dakotas where Mr. Isaak was born one of six children. He was married in 1907 to Regina Kittler who also had immigrated from Russia. Previous to his marriage, Mr. Isaak had taken up a homestead in 1904, 7 miles North of Dodge where he is still located. He has 4 sisters and 2 brothers all of whom reside in North Dakota. The sisters are Paulina Brecht, Lydia Tschaekofske, Theresa Schatz and Dorothy Isaak. The two brothers are Gotthilf and E.C. Isaak. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Isaak, three of whom are married and on farms in North Dakota. Arthur J. Isaak farms in Dunn County, Alfred J. (still single) farms on the home place North of Dodge, Irma is married to Ed Siedel who farms at Halliday and Erna lives North of Golden Valley where her husband Arnold Richau farms. Mr. Isaak has been a resident in Mercer County for 46 years and he says that this is the latest Spring he ever saw. He also stated that he can remember hauling flax to Garrison & Hebron by sled before the railroad came in. He said, "I always was fortunate to get my seed back in the hardest years and 3 ½ bushels of wheat is the least I ever threshed." Mr. Isaak was a director of the Golden Valley Farmers Grain Co. and the Dodge Farmers Co-op Elevator Co. for 29 years. He served as school director for 28 years. Mr. Isaak spent 7 years in the House and Senate of North Dakota. He was in the House in '29, '31, '33, '35, and '45 and in the Senate in '39 and '41. Other various offices were also held by him.
