She was educated in the public schools in Hand County and atteded Huron Academy. She was a graduate of Huron College. In May of 1917 she was married to Thad Oviatt in Huron. A Long time member of the Congregational Church, she was active in all phases of church work. She was also a member of the State Conference Board, was registrar of the Central Association of Congregational Churches, was clerk of the Huron Cogregational Church, was a member of AAUW, Boethean Society, Chapter AN PEO, Fair City Garden Club, Alpha Delphian Study Club. Surviving are two sons: Max of Huron and Ross of Waterown.
