Mrs. Hannum passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thad Oviatt in Huron. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church, and were in charge of Rev. E. W. Hale and Rev. S. W. Keck. Burial was made in riverside cemetery. Mrs. Hannum was born at Windsor Mills, Ohio, April 2, 1868. When she was six months old she came with her parents, Hilan J. and Nancy A. Hoskin, to Iowa, making their home at Wheatland and later at Storm Lake. In 1884 the family moved to St. Lawrence, where she completed her education in St. Lawrence schools and Redfield college. After four terms of teaching in Hand county schools she was married to Ross Hannum, December 3, 1890, and they lived on a homestead in Gilbert township. In February, 1915, the family moved to Huron, where they since made their home. Mr. Hannum died August 13, 1933, and since March, 1936, Mrs. Hannum has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Thad Oviatt. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Ham (Nancy), Piedmont; Mrs. Thad Oviatt (Grace), Huron; the following grandchildren, Ruth Ann Ham, Iowa City, Ia.; Grace Ellen Ham, Guy Ross and Donald Ham, Piedmont; Ensign Ross H. Oviatt, USNR, Norfolk, Va., and Max Oviatt, Vermillion. Her mother died November 16, 1914; her father April 21, 1917, and her only brother, Clinton D. Hoskin, died at Redfield November 13, 1928. Mrs. Hannum was a member of the Congregational church in Huron, was interested in the Y. W.C.A., and Delphian Study club, and was president of the Pilgrim Sunday school class.
