Description	:	Grace D. Jensen, 89 years of age, of Upland, passed away at Bethany Home, Minden, NE on January 17th, 2016. Services will be Thursday, January 21st, 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Burial will be at the Upland Cemetery. Grace was born on December 22, 1926, to George E. and Mary (Haagensen) Sorensen at a farm in Kearney County. She was baptized at Fredericksburg Lutheran Church, Minden, NE. She attended Zyba Grade School, Kearney Co. thru 8th Grade and then continued her education and graduated from Upland High School. She married James E. (Bud) Jensen on December 30th, 1950. They farmed side by side in the Holstein-Upland area until they retired in 1992. They also celebrated 51 years of marriage with their 50th anniversary being a great milestone in their lives and a very special day. She attended Upland United Methodist Church. Grace’s greatest joy was her husband and family. She lost her father George at a very young age. She loved her home and took pride in her vegetable garden. She always had excess produce that she offered to family, friends and neighbors. She welcomed visitors into her home with a cup of coffee and something to eat along with plenty of conversation. She always looked forward to her Tuesday morning coffee club with friends in Minden and serving at the Birthday coffees at the Upland Methodist church each month. Survivors include her daughters, Debra Smidt, her husband Gary of Axtell, Mary Lou Wissmann, her husband, Allen of Bertrand, and son, John Jensen, his wife, Kathy of Hildreth; seven grandchildren, Matt Smidt and wife Dori, Jason Smidt and wife, Corey and Michala Smidt and friend, Jake Olsen, Chelsa Winheim and friend, Brandon Wolf and Brad Winheim and fiancée, Bethany Tuenge, Russ Largent and wife, Kari, and Kyle Largent and wife, Holly; nine great grandchildren Daisa, Macy, Jacey, Jerzee and Knox Smidt, Jayla Olsen, Keaton, Emma and R.J. Largent; sisters-in law, Margaret Sorensen of Grand Island, Barbara Jensen of Kenesaw and Mary Jane Jensen of Aurora, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, brothers Lloyd and twin-brother Gerald, three brother-in-laws, Alvin, Don and Rudy Jensen, two sister-in-laws Violet Jensen and Verdell Jones.
