And to her, in a holier welcome Was the mystical meaning given Of the words of the blessed Master, "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven Miss Grace Edna Mehaffey, the eldest daughter of Ed. A. and nancy J. Mehaffey, was born in Jordan Township, Warren County, Indiana, June 11, 1888 and departed this life at the family residence, after an illness of only seven days from double pneumonia. She leaves to mourn her loss a father, Ed. A., two brothers, Carl. A. and Raymond H. and three sisters, Emma B. davis, Golda L. and Sylvia C. The end came very easily and death with its icy grip settled upon the lifeless form of human clay as gently as falls the dew upon the earth from the heaven above. There is a vacant place at the table and a missing chair at the fire-side. These all repeat the same sad story. Grace was a christian girl, having heard the call of her Savior some two years ago, and has ever since been a faithful member of the church. She was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, by which order and under the regular funeral services, she was laid to rest. Grace took great interst in the chapter, having served as Esther during one year. When Grace saw that the end was coming, she seemed to take the call as that of her blessed Savior, and made no complaint. She passed through the Golden Gates to the World beyond as quiet as comes the light of day. All that human hands could do, was at her service, two doctors and a nurse, who did their best, but her call was beyond them and their power was as naught. The funeral services were held at the methodist church at Pence, Indiana at 2:00, march 27, 1909, Rev. Stewart officiating. Interment was made in Jordan Cemetery.
