Nilson, the daughter of Charles H. and Cora (Matson) Lindburg, was born on a farm near Polk, Nebraska, on July 18, 1906, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on July 24, 1985, at the age of 79 years and 6 days. She grew up near and in Polk, Nebraska, and graduated from Polk High School in 1924. In 1929, she was graduated from the Grand Island Baptist College. Nilson, the daughter of Charles H. and Cora (Matson) Lindburg, was born on a farm near Polk, Nebraska, on July 18, 1906, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on July 24, 1985, at the age of 79 years and 6 days. She grew up near and in Polk, Nebraska, and graduated from Polk High School in 1924. In 1929, she was graduated from the Grand Island Baptist College. Later she did graduate work at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. On June 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Arthur A. Nilson in her parent's home at Polk, Nebraska. After their marriage they made their home for over 52 years on the same farm near Marquette, Nebraska. Grace taught school in Silver Creek, Marquette, Grand Island, Avoca, Hampton and in Polk, and in 1972 she retired from teaching at Marquette High School. During these years she taught foreign language, music, English and dramatics, having a profound effect on the lives of many young men and women. She was a faithful member of the Marquette Methodist Church and belonged to the Naomi Circle. Grace was an accomplished musician and for many years she was involved in the music program of the church as choir director, pianist and organist. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Grand Island Baptist College Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harold, Archie, Vern, and Floyd; and two sisters, Edith and Alice. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Arthur; three sons, Edward of Monrovia, California, Charles of Lincoln and Bruce of Newbury Park, California; eight grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.
