Read More	Grace Laurene Struckmeyer was born on June 20, 1905, at Clatonia, Nebraska to Henry and Ida [Fryrear] Struckmeyer. She died at Prairie Vista Care Center in Holyoke on Thursday, December 30, 1999. She was 94 years old. Grace was the eldest of five children in her family, having two brothers and two sisters. She moved to Holyoke with her family in 1919, where they lived on a farm. Grace attended high school in Holyoke, graduating as salutatorian with the class of 1923. Following graduation, she earned her teaching certificate at the University of Greeley. She taught school for four years. She was united in marriage to Theodore O'Neal on May 15, 1927. To this union two children were born, Betty and Dale. Ted died August 22, 1961. Grace was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher for more than 70 years, working with the United Methodist Women and helping with memorial contributions at funerals for years. She was also a member of AARP, Senior Citizens, Republican Women, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Fidelis Club. Grace was active as a community volunteer and was recognized nationally for her efforts. These included delivering Meals on Wheels in her blue '68 Chevy; transporting friends to church, card parties and many other activities; helping with Friday bingo at Prairie Vista Care Center; and countless other acts of kindness. She loved to garden and to share her vegetables, baked goods and canned goods with family and friends. She was especially known for her dill pickles and sugar cookies. One of Grace's fondest memories was the dance held in honor of her 90th birthday in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; her two brothers, Harvey and Everett Struckmeyer; and one sister, Sylvia Warren. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Brown and husband, Max, of Holyoke; her son, Dale O'Neal and wife, Nelda, also of Holyoke; one sister, Ellen Johnston of Imperial, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Helen Mayne of Yuma, Arizona and Doris Struckmeyer Ferguson of Holyoke; six grandchildren, Steve Brown and wife, Cherrie, Sandy Triplette and husband, Rusty, all of Holyoke, Roger O'Neal of Playa Del Ray, California, Danna Wilson and husband, Ron, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Sharon Murray and husband, Scott, of Holyoke, and Ted O'Neal and wife Tamara, of Lancaster, California; 12 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Tennessen and husband, Chuck, Michael Newth, all of Greeley, Brett Murray of Salina, Kansas, Lance Murray of Holyoke, Amber and Kyle Wilson of Claremore, Oklahoma, Kelsey Triplette, Chris Brown, Evan Murray and Alyson Brown, all of Holyoke, Kathryn Grace and Connor O'Neal of Lancaster, California; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services for Grace Laurene Struckmeyer O'Neal were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Darrell Dennis of the First United Methodist Church and Rev. Gary Rahe of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment followed in Holyoke Memorial Park. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made in Grace's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Holyoke Memorial Fund.
