Magnus was born in Sweden to Carrie Mattson and John Edgren. Magnus was a foreman at the Mother Lode Copper Mine in Greenwood,B.C. Grace graduated from Providence Academy in Vancouver, Washington. She was known for her exquisite needlework and sewing skills taught by the nuns at the academy. Following her mother's second marriage to Richard Keightly Willis, Grace moved with the family to Orcas Island where she met Alfred O'Neill. Al and Grace were married September 23,1924 in Bellingham,Whatcom County, and raised their family of four children in Olga in a home that Al had built from a house he dismantled in Rosario for Robert Moran, and added to a chicken house on the property south of Olga Energetic Club (later Olga Community Club). After they sold the house to Jack and Jane Barfoot, they moved to their new home that Al built on the hill above the Strawberry Cannery ( later the location of Orcas Island Artworks). Grace's poem about the view south from their home in Olga: "I watch from my window this morning as the light dances out on the bay. The white clouds skim gently in windrows, and the ferry goes by on her way". Richard Keightley Willis married Grace's mother, Emma Adele Matheison Edgren, November 24, 1914 in Seattle. Adele died at age 42 in Seattle on March 7, 1935. Sons of Richard (Dick) and Adele Willis: 1.Richard (Dick) Charles Willis,12/16/1917-2000 (in Australia). 2.Robert Bruce (Bud)Willis, 6/25/1919-12/27/2003, buried at: Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington. 3.Roderick (Rod) Alexander Willis 9/27/1225 - 3/18/1998, buried at Greenacres, Ferndale, Whatcom County, Washington.
