Simpson OBITUARY THE ADAMS COUNTY UNION-REPUBLICAN Nodaway, Iowa Wednesday, September 28, 1927 Grace Lucille, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Kuhn, was born on the farm, six and a half miles southeast of Villisca, in Valley township, Page county, Iowa, April 14, 1889. Her parents moved from the farm in 1896, and her school days were spent in Cedar Falls, Lenox and Bedford. She graduated from the Bedford high school in the spring of 1908 and then attended the State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She spent several years teaching in the schools of Taylor and Page counties. On December 25, 1912, she was united in marriage with Roscoe D. Simpson. Shortly after the wedding they began housekeeping in the village of Guss. In 1917 her husband accepted a position in the Adams County Bank in Nodaway and they have made this town their home since November 12, 1917. Mrs. Simpson was the mother of 4 children, one daughter, Grace Eleanor, who died in infancy, and three sons, DeForest Jr., William and Elmer. Mrs. Simpson went to her reward Friday, September 23, 1927, at 10:00 o'clock a.m., aged 38 years, 5 months and 5 days. She leaves her husband; three little sons; her father and mother; three brothers, Harold L. Kuhn, of Valentine, Nebr.; Thomas L. Kuhn, Bedford; and Charles H. Kuhn, who lives near Hepburn, Iowa, also a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She was a member of the M.E. church at the time of her death, having confessed her faith in her childhood days. She has been called home to be with her Creator, whose ways we do not understand. She has gone, but she will not be forgotten. Her life example and influence will be reflected in the lives of others. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. O.R. Jones, assisted by Rev. J.W. Ellis. Interment was made in the Villisca cemetery. The singers were Mrs. H.G. Everett, Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Shane, Earl Marlhard and Miss Lotus Taylor, with Mrs. C.N. Kennedy at the piano. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Kuhn, Shannon City; Mr. and Mrs. William Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. C. Wise, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Means, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Orme, Mr. and Mrs. Will Orme, Mr. and Mrs. Delford Orme, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Andrews, Charles Kuhn, all of Villisca; Harold Kuhn, Valentine, Nebr.; Tom Kuhn, Bedford, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simpson of Quincy, Iowa.
