Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Laufersweil er-Sievers Funeral Home. Grace Marie Husmann was born November 27, 1935 in Washington Township near Minburn, Iowa. She graduated from Minburn High School in 1953. She then continued her education at Iowa State University where she earned her teaching degree. On July 7, 1973 she was united in marriage to Patrick Porter. They established their home in Fort Dodge. Grace taught two years at Corydon, IA before moving to Fort Dodge. She taught Home Economics and History in the Fort Dodge Community School System over 40 years until she retired in 2000. She always loved teaching throughout her entire career. Surviving is her sister, Loretta (Paul) Johnson of Des Moines; nephew, Donald (Elizabeth) Johnson; nieces, Barbara and Kate (John) Johnson; great-niece, Ashley Large; great-nephews, Bradley, Corey and Brandon Johnson; foster brother, Delmer Husmann of Boone; sister-in-law and brother- in-law , Sara and Bob Stark of Cedar Rapids; and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian (Taylor) Husmann; and her husband, Pat, in January 2009. Grace was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Fort Dodge Retired Teachers Association.
