Description	:	Kansan, Wednesday, June 12, 1918 Granville C. Cook was born at Reedville, Kentucky, April 2, 1873. At the age of 12 years he came to Kansas with his parents, living on a farm in Richland township, harvey county. In 1907 he was elected register of deeds, serving two terms, at which time he came to Newton, where he has since made his home. he also served Newton city as commissioner for two terms, having just retired at the recent election. Cook was born at Reedville, Kentucky, April 2, 1873. At the age of 12 years he came to Kansas with his parents, living on a farm in Richland township, harvey county. In 1907 he was elected register of deeds, serving two terms, at which time he came to Newton, where he has since made his home. he also served Newton city as commissioner for two terms, having just retired at the recent election. In January 1, 1913, he was married to Miss Alta Haylett. Besides his wife, he leaves his father, two brothers, W.E. Cook of Furley, Kansas, and R. A. Cook of Newton. He also leaves two little nieces, Marian and Margaret, daughters of Mr. And Mrs. Ray Cook, whom he loved dearly. His mother preceded him to his eternal home November 11, 1917. His illness dates from 1915, and during the many months has endured his suffering with great fortitude and patience. Always cheerful, kind and considerate of others, they seemed to be his chief concern. Always public spirited, he took an active part in the affairs of his community, state and nation, and worthy cases of need were never sent empty handed from him. He was baptized and confessed his Christ many years ago and was a member of the Methodist church. Death came June 9, 1918, at 8:15 o'clock in the evening. He was 45 years, 2 months and 7 days of age. He expressed before his death, his readiness to meet his God. Funeral services were held at the residence, 525 High street, Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 1918.
