Description	:	Mr. Gray Dean Bowman, age 74 of Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County, September 4, 1936 to Kermit and Clara Alice Marshall Bowman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed. Read More	Mr. Gray Dean Bowman, age 74 of Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County, September 4, 1936 to Kermit and Clara Alice Marshall Bowman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed. Mr. Bowman was retired from United Plastics and Patrick County School Transportation Dept. Surviving is his devoted wife, June Thomas Bowman of the home; a son, Gregory (Greg) Bowman of Ararat; grandchildren, Christopher (Chris) Lee Bowman and friend Victoria and Sheena Danielle Bowman great granddaughter, Allie Marie Bowman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Velda and Bill Marshall and Carlene and Johnny Cain, Jr. all of Ararat; Lucille and Buck Hooker of Stoneville, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy (Tim) and Barbara Bowman, Ricky and Lynn Bowman and Pam Bowman all of Ararat; Harold Bowman of Cana; Lurene Bowman of Fancy Gap and Alice Bowman of Lexington, NC; Erlene and Wilford Marshall of Ararat; several nieces and nephews and a special niece Kathy Hall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by brothers, McKinley Bowman, Ruckes (R. M.) Bowman, Paul Bowman and Ted Bowman. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Doe Run Baptist Church by Rev. Homer Bowman and Rev. Terry Vaughn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Bowman will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 22099 Jeb Stuart Hwy, Stuart, VA 24171 or to Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Wade Bowman, 711 Doe Run Rd., Ararat, VA 24053.
