Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Greg was born November 23, 1933 to Jacob and Helen (Zimmer) Paitz at their farm north of Kearney. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1951. He is a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1955-1957 and was stationed in Germany. On April 24, 1957, he married Betty Kriha at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church south of Ravenna. They lived and farmed south of Poole for 25 years, moving southeast of Pleasanton in 1982 where they farmed at the Paitz family farm. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton and the V.F.W. Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty, of Pleasanton; sons, Larry Paitz and wife Julie of Pleasanton, David Paitz and wife Ceci of Waverly; daughters, Peggy Graham and husband Denny of Lincoln, Sharon Hernandez and husband Vince of Grand Island, Becky Behrendt and husband Bill of Ravenna, and Jenny Belitz and husband Dan of Cedar Bluffs; sisters, Mary Shiers of Kearney, Rita Busch of Pleasanton, Monica DeCarlo and husband Tony of Poulsbo, WA; brother, Joe Paitz of Hazard; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ripp, Kay Ripp and Joan Kriha all of Ravenna; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leo and Clement Paitz and sister, Teresa Pickering; in-laws, Florence Paitz, Harold Pickering, Roger Shiers, Robert Busch, Delores Paitz, Jerry Ripp, Oley Ripp, and Robert Kriha.
