Burgan, 70, of 1814 Livingston, well known in Montana education affairs and for her association with the Order of the Eastern Star, died unexpectedly in Missoula early Sunday. Mrs. Burgan was born Feb. 5, 1895 in Helena and spent her early life here. She was educated in Helena schools and later attended Utah State University. She was married to Clyde W. Read More	Gretta Burgan Last Rites Are Set Tuesday Gretta R. Burgan, 70, of 1814 Livingston, well known in Montana education affairs and for her association with the Order of the Eastern Star, died unexpectedly in Missoula early Sunday. Mrs. Burgan was born Feb. 5, 1895 in Helena and spent her early life here. She was educated in Helena schools and later attended Utah State University. She was married to Clyde W. Burgan in Spokane April 10, 1920, and the couple spent most of their lives in Helena. Before his retirement Burgan was associated with the Burgan-Walker Automobile Co., the Buick agency in Helena. She was active in public school affairs and was past president of the PTA Council. Mrs. Burgan was a charter member of Josephine Hepner Chapter 89, OES and of Sapphira Temple, Daughters of the Nile. An organizer of the Algeria Shrine Auxiliary, Mrs. Burgan long had been active in promotion of the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital in Spokane. An accomplished equestrienne she served many years as secretary of the Helena Trailriders Association and was past state historian for the Montana Saddle Clubs Association. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Claire Gardner, grandchildren, Kimberly and Kenneth Gardner, sister, Mrs. Alberta Harvey and niece, Mrs. Stanley Wilson, all of Helena. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Retz Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Harper of St. Paul's Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor E. Jacobsen, A. H. Connick, Ben Wahle, Judge Hugh Adair, Douglas A. Ferris and John Martello.
