Gretje "Grace" Naber Huisman The funeral service for Mrs Gretje Huisman who died at her home in Kamrar, Tuesday of last week was held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 O'clock at the home and 2:00 O'clock at the German Presbyterian Church east of Kamrar. The pastor Rev H. E. Sinning officiated and internment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery. At the service was music by a quartet Mrs Joe Middents; Mrs Ernie Van Langen; Ollie Olthoff and George Fonken, and Eunice Havinga accompaning at the piano. The pall bearers were six of Mrs Huisman's grandsons Bernard Heyer, Richard Gray, Floyd Huisman, Elmer Gray, Bernard Heyer, Leonard Gray. Gretje Naber was the daughter of Gerit and Gretze Naber, she was born at Terschelling, Netherlands October 6, 1863 and died at her home in Kamrar, Iowa Tuesday March 28, 1939 at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 22 days. Death resulted from diabetes from which she had suffered for 25 years. When 2 years old she came with her parents to America. The family first locating at Freeport, Illinois, where she lived for about six years. The family then moved to Grundy Coonty, Iowa Where she lived until the year 1893. When she came to Hamilton County, Iowa and lived the rest of her life in this community. Her home was in Kamrar the last twenty five years. She married Folkart Huisman at Ackley, Iowa March 4 of 1883. Ten children were born to this union, one child having died when 2 years old. Her husband died Feb. 15, 1934. The nine surviving children are Klaas Huisman and George Huisman both of Kamrar; Grace Gray of Titonka; Jennie Naber of Lake Lillian Minn; Anna Heyer of Jewel; Maint Huisman of Atwater, Minn; Sadie Gray of Titonka; William Huisman of Kamrar; Samuel Huisman of Hillsdale, Wisc. Other survivors include four brothers, one sister, 56 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many more distant relatives. The brothers and sister are Peter Naber of Esteline, S. Dak; Henry Naber and Cornelius Naber both of Kamrar; Mrs A. J. Arends of Blairsburg; Gerit Naber of Lyle, Minn. Mrs Huisman was a member of the Baptist church of Sheffield, Iowa and after coming to this community more than 45 years ago she has attended and was an active worker in the German Presbyterian Church as long as she was able. She was a good wife and mother, a good neighbor, one held in high esteem by all who knew her and whose memory will long be cherished.
