Description	:	Charles Grover Hendricks Meyer was born August 17, 1884 near Fairview, Kansas to William H. and Sophia Meseke Meyer. He attended Carson rural grade school, and State Normal School at Emporia, Kansas and Kansas University at Lawrence. He taught at 2 schools in Brown County, Kansas, one year at Pleasant Hill rural school near Hamlin, and one year at Reserve, Kansas, where he served as principal as well as teaching grades 8 through 10. Read More	Charles Grover Hendricks Meyer was born August 17, 1884 near Fairview, Kansas to William H. and Sophia Meseke Meyer. Grover established a homestead in Tripp County, South Dakota in 1910. He taught school 2 years in Tripp County before turning to farming full time. Grover was united in marriage to Anna May Dunten on June 3, 1913 at Winner, South Dakota. They lived on a farm near Carter, South Dakota and raised their four children there. Grover and May attended rural Sunday Schools at Crystal Springs and Star Prairie, and became members of Star Prairie Baptist Church near Clearfield when it opened in 1945 and later attended United Methodist Church in Winner. Grover passed away October 7, 1971. He was preceded in death by his wife May in 1965, his parents, sisters Etta, Rebecca and Estella, and brothers Albert, Ben and Lynn. Survivors include three sons, Otis of Winner, Lloyd of Carter and Norman of Clearfield, a daughter, Mrs. Merle Jorgensen of Clearfield; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Lulu Smith of Hiawatha, Kansas; Allan Meyer of Red Cloud, Nebraska; Veslie Meyer of Oklahoma City and Leslie Meyer of Colorado Springs. Funeral services for Mr. Meyer were held at 10:30 a.m. on October 11, 1971 at United Methodist Church in Winner, with six of his grandsons serving as pallbearers.
