Description	:	Guernsey Harris Condon was the middle (or 8th) child of the large family of 17 children of Clinton Bloodsworth and Josephine Newman Condon. He lived in Hampton and helped his father in the well digging and windmill business as a young man. He married Elizabeth Schneider, also of Hampton on September 3, 1906 at Alma, Nebraska. Eventually, they moved to Texas for several years, then returned to a farm near Aurora. Read More	Guernsey Harris Condon was the middle (or 8th) child of the large family of 17 children of Clinton Bloodsworth and Josephine Newman Condon. He lived in Hampton and helped his father in the well digging and windmill business as a young man. He married Elizabeth Schneider, also of Hampton on September 3, 1906 at Alma, Nebraska. Eventually, they moved to Texas for several years, then returned to a farm near Aurora. He farmed with horses for many years, raised Hamptshire hogs and milked a few cows and raised chickens, to supplement the food supply; and have some "butter and egg" money income. The children attended a nearby country school and rally anticipated the school's Christmas program and picnic in the Spring, on the last day of school each year. The youngest son, John, had a 4-H project of "Dairy Calf" and this led to Guernsey developing a purebred herd of Holsteins. Guernsey then planted friot trees and raised a boutiful supply of fruits, vegetables, which he shared with the family and friends, and kept Elizabeth busy canning and freezing foots and he helpted her. He also played a mouth harp beautifully. Their family enjoyed having an oyster stew with all the trimmings, during the cold winter months, and the family usually had a large dish pan full of popcorn as a Sunday evening treat, sometimes they played cards. After Elizabeth's death on May 27, 1966, Guernsey cared for his home and himself for several years, but finally spent the last years of his life in a retirement home in Aurora. He died February 17, 1974 at the age of 92, a life well lived. Guernsey and Elizabeth had 5 children: Marion Paul (married Lois Guard), Laurence James (married Helen Hengstler), Lucille Agnes (married Peter VanDeWalle), Charles Walter (married Geraldine Adams), and John Clinton (married Hazel Olsen)
