He was not considered sick but simply passed away peacefully in old age. He was born in Norway on Dec. 20th 1820; came to this country in 1867 and settled in Lansing, Iowa. Since his wife's death some 20 years ago, grandpa has lived with his two sons, Peter, of Chester, Iowa, and C.G. of this place. He was highly esteemed by all. His remains were taken to Lansing for burial, where funeral services were held. The mourning family have the full sympathy of all friends. Elkton Record (Elkton, South Dakota) 15 May 1908 C.G. Peterson returned from Lansing, Iowa, Monday, where he laid his father's remains beside those of his mother. There was a large funeral and many old neighbors and friends of the Peterson family were in attendance. The bearers were six old neighbors of Grandpa Peterson, and all of about the same age, 88 years.
