Groff was born Nov. 13, 1910 in Torpo, Hallingdal, Norway to Kittil and Birgit Groff. She was reared and attended school in Norway and was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway. She immigrated to the US with her parents and eight brothers and sisters. They came to the Harlow area in 1929. She married Roy L. Morkert June 13, 1936 at the Leeds Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm in Benson County until 1946, when they moved to Leeds. He died July 21, 1999. Roy and Gunvor greatly enjoyed their house and yard. She planted many varieties of flowers, which made the yard a local showplace. She was a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway of Devils Lake and the Hallinglaget of America. She especially enjoyed the Hostfest in Minot, shere she modeled in the bunad show for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Marlene (Robert) Freudenwald of Caledonia, Wisc.; a son, Sidney (Margaret) Morkert of Ludington, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Rogers of Monument, Colo. and Birgit Groff of Morrison, Colo.; and two brothers, Torgus (Ingun) Groff of Lakewood, Colo. and Tormod (Cheryl) Groff of Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Kenneth; a brother, Ole Groff; and three sisters, Anne Thompson, Nikki Kauffman and Guri Friestad.
