Hurst pastor of the Church of Christ conducting the services. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery. Gurdon P. Gloyd was born in Sac county, Wisconsin, on September 17, 1862, and grew to young man hood in that state. Forty years ago he came to Iowa and settled in Spencer where he has since made his home, He worked here for many years at the carpenter trade. He was married in 1987 to Miss Ruby Benton and to this union nine children were born, Mrs. C.H. Seaton of Spencer, Mrs F.A. Simpson of Novelty, Missouri, Mrs. S.R. Conte of Spencer, Mrs. D.R. Marble of Spencer and Alford E., Gurdon P., and Ruby L Gloyd who are still living in their parental home. Beside the wife and children, two sisters, Mrs. D.C. Gillespie of Spencer and Mrs A.B. Smith of Redfield, South Dakota, and a brother J.R. Gloyd of Langdon, are left to mourn with a host of friends.
