P.J. Thiel officatiating. Henry J. Shultz sang two solos. 'Abide with Me' and 'Christians Good Night'. Pall-bears where six nephews, Will Hinrichs and Carl and Gus Boonstra of Omaha, and Paul, Emil and Gus Fechner. Burial was made in the Stanton cemetery. Gustav Fechner, youngest son of Carl and Juliana Fechner, was born Sept. 8, 1860 in Grobenhagen, Pommeriana, Germany (Prussia). He came to this country and to Stanton county with his parents in 1870, living on a farm. He was married to Miss Louisa Neumann on March 25, 1888, and to this union were born three sons and two daughters: Oscar of Omaha; Emil, of Kirbyville, MO.; Pauline Mayer, of Sious Falls, S.D., and Walter, of Stanton. One daughter dying in infancy. In 1891 they moved to Stanton where he engaged in the hardware business until the year 1910 when he retired from active business. All during his residence in Stanton he has been active in civic affairs, having served on the city council for a number of terms and for 50 years he was an active member of the Lutheran chruch. On last March, the 25th, Mr. and Mrs. Ferchner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary when they were permitted to greet a large number of their old friends. In poor health for about a year, Mr. Fechner passed away Saturday, June 18, 1938 at the rip age of 77 years, 9 months and 10 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, his sorrowing wife, the above named children, one brother, Herman of Stanton; two sisters, Mrs. Boonstra and Mrs. Hinrichs of Omaha; 8 grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
