Cora Nelsen Hanson was born march 1, 1916 to John and Martha Ulven Nelsen. Cora started doing beauty work and continued on for several years. Guy and Cora were married June 1, 1937 during the depression but the young never worry much about what is ahead, just listen to the heart. There were three children born to this union. Nancy was born July 26, 1938. She followed her mothers footsteps and became a beautician. She married Elmer Peterson and they have three daughters - Stacy, Marcy and Lindy. Virginia always called Virgie, was born August 21, 1940. She graduated from college and has a teachers degree which she has made use of many years. She married James Wells while they were both in college. They have two children - Michael and Wendy. Ronald was born February 12, 1943, always called Ronnie as a child or Ronnie Guy. He has a degree in business and at the present time is in the steel business. He married Beverly Morter. They have two children - Collin and Brynn. The family has lived in the same house in Soldier since 1940. The year 1944 was a trial for the family. Guy was caught in a tornado and buried in lots of debris. it looked dismal for the family but by God's help he survived. The Red Cross was a very big help for us plus family and friends. The tornado was in Fort dodge, Iowa where he had gone for a load of feed. Both Guy's family - Clarence, Mary, Henry, Emma, Oscar and Leona; and Cora's family, Adolph, Jalmer, Clara, Agnes, Norval and Harry have all helped to make our life enjoyable. God has been good to all of us. OBITUARY Guy Hanson, 77, passed away Thursday, September 24, 1987, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa. He was born March 14, 1910, at Soldier, to Ole T. and Mattie (Field) Hanson. On June 1, 1937, he married Cora Nelsen at Soldier. Survivors include his wife, Cora, a son and his wife, Ronald Guy, and Bev Hanson of South Bend, Ind., two daughters, Mrs. James (Virginia) Wells of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Elmer (Nancy) Petersen of Omaha, Neb., two sisters, Mrs. Emma Graetz and Mrs. Mary Ulven, both of Soldier, one brother, Oscar Hanson of Rodney, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Leona Outhouse, and three brothers, Clarence, Henry and an infant brother.
