Slade.He was married to Mary Ann Kahler and to this union two children were born.Survivors include a daughter, Dixcie Waterman, husband, Eugene, and children, Shana, David and Michelle of Fort Morgan, Colorado; son, Jim Slade Magnani, and daughter, Amandi, of Benkelman, Nebraska; a sister, Helen Bunning of Benkelman, Nebraska; a brother, Leonard Slade, and wife, Donna, of Palisade, Nebraska, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.As a young man he enjoyed working and traveling with the harvest crews throughout several states. Later he worked in Benkelman, Nebraska, and Wiggins, Colorado, as a farm hand. Moving to Wendell, Idaho, in the mid-'70s, he was employed by Northside Canal Company.Junior spent many happy hours camping in the mountains of Colorado and Idaho. He looked forward to his yearly vacation, spending much time with his family and grandchildren of whom he loved so dearly. He was a devoted, loving father, grandfather and brother. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marion and Kenneth.Services were held Tuesday, June 17, 1986, at 2 p.m., at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Benkelman, Nebraska, with Reverend Bruce Matthews officiating.Organist was Betty Erdman. Richard Bartholomew with guitar accompaniment sang "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Just A Closer Walk With [email protected] were Walter Barenberg, Wilbur Reiman, Boyce Warning, Glen Mullanix, Mason Jones and Boyd Stroup.Interment was in the Benkelman Cemetery at Benkelman, Nebraska, with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Benkelman.[Printed in the Benkelman, NE Post, June 1986]
