Description	:	Gwendolyn Hendrickson was born January 23, 1931, on the family farm near Sheyenne, ND the daughter of Alvin and Gudrun (Myhre) Hendrickson. She was confirmed in the Grandfield Lutheran Church and attended school in Sheyenne, graduating from Sheyenne High in 1949. Gwendolyn attended Minot Teacher's College receiving her Teaching Certificate and then taught in a rural school in Wells County. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked for a short time before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1952. She was stationed at Paris Island, SC, where she served until her discharge in 1954. On January... Read More	Gwendolyn Hendrickson was born January 23, 1931, on the family farm near Sheyenne, ND the daughter of Alvin and Gudrun (Myhre) Hendrickson. She was confirmed in the Grandfield Lutheran Church and attended school in Sheyenne, graduating from Sheyenne High in 1949. Gwendolyn attended Minot Teacher's College receiving her Teaching Certificate and then taught in a rural school in Wells County. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked for a short time before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1952. She was stationed at Paris Island, SC, where she served until her discharge in 1954. On January 7,1954, she married Richard Floyd at Paris Island, SC and they moved to Muncie, Indiana. While in Indiana, Gwendolyn worked as a secretary for Borg-Warner. In 1964, they moved to Hillsdale, Michigan where she worked for Eagle -Picher Corporation as a materials expeditor. They moved to Jamestown in 1979, and Gwendolyn worked in the medical records department at the North Dakota State Hospital and for John Fuchs at Great Plains Claims. She retired in 1982. Gwendolyn and Richard have spent the last 5 years traveling extensively. For the past 18 years, she battled Multiple Myeloma and to date was the longest survivor of that disease in the United States. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beta Stigma Phi and the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, 3 daughters; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers, and 1 sister. she was proceeded in death by her parents and one sister, Yvonn Schimelfenig.
