He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Versailles, where he was in the choir and church counsel, was a member of Versailles Rotary Club, Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 290, Versailles, Worch Library Board, and the Garst Museum Board. He was 1996 Versailles Citizen of the year. Services were at the church.
