Description	:	Halleck Demaree, second son of Frank C. and Ella (Yates) Demaree, was born at Geneva, Neb., October 18, 1894. He passed away at his home in Fairmont, July 6th, 1961, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 18 days. May 22nd, 1927, he and Mary Hazel Moor were married at Ohiowa. He passed away at his home in Fairmont, July 6th, 1961, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 18 days. May 22nd, 1927, he and Mary Hazel Moor were married at Ohiowa. They immediately came to the Fairmont community to establish their home on a farm. To this union were born three daughters, Pauline Frances, Carroll Jeanne and Corrine Elaine. Halleck became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age. With the exception of six years spent in Davenport, Neb., he had continuously been a member of the Grace Methodist Church at Fairmont since 1927. He served on the church board many years, but had asked to be replaced by a younger man. He willingly served his community in several civic capacities—as township official, school board member, 4-H forestry leader and helping in the administration of the various farm programs. He retired from the farm to his home in Fairmont in 1957 because of ill health. He continued to help part time with farm work although he hardly had the strength to do so. His last illness developed in January of this year. His health failed noticeably the last two weeks as additional symptoms seemed to be developing. Surviving are his wife, Hazel; the three daughters: Pauline Demaree of Cleveland, O., Carroll Gott of Anchorage, Alaska, Corrine Dorland of Huntsville, Ala.; one grandson, Steve Gotte; two sons-in-law, Capt. Jack Gotte and Wade Borland; one sister, Elsie Swanson Mt. Ayr, Ia.; and two brothers, Harold of Stanton, Neb. and James of Minneapolis, Kas. Services were held at the Grace Methodist Church in Fairmont at 3:3j0 Sunday afternoon, July 9. Rev. Robert Barger officiated and Oliver Moul sang “In the Garden” and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” accompanied by Mrs. A. P. Stewart. Serving as pallbearers were Homer Goodrich, Everett Nichols, John Anderson, Rex Real, Ernest Johnson and Everett Real. The floral tributes were many. Many contributions were made for a memorial fund to be given to the Grace Methodist Church. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
