Description	:	Halvor J. Sandsness, pioneer of the Melville country, died at the Dillon apartments in this city Tuesday evening, to which place he had been brought by his daughter, Mrs. Bert Green, from his home near Melville. Obstruction of the bowels was the immediate cause of death. Burial will be in Mountain View in this city, services to be held at the Lutheran church at 2pm, tomorrow, Friday. Halvor J. Sandsness was born near Christiana, Norway, December 22, 1856, coming to the United States in infancy with his parents, and to Melville in 1888. February 18, 1879, he was married at Rushford, Minn., to Marie Miller, who passed away March 2, 1924. To the union 12 children were born, 10 of whom survive: Mrs. W. G. Liebel, Mrs. Bert Green of this city; Mrs. P.J. McDonald and Mrs. Louise Alcott of Butte; Mrs. H.C. Egeland, of Livingston; William James, Hjalmer and Thorval, this county; Henry of Bozeman. Two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Johnson, Rushford, Minn.; Mrs. Sam Berg, Canby, Ore.; two brothers James Sandsness, Canby; Olaus Sandsness, Rushford. There are also 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Among the pioneers of Melville deceased ranked with the best. He was a good farmer, a good citizen, kindly with all the universally respected.
