Hansen Dies From Injuries Sustained In Automobile Wreck Mr. Hans Peter Hansen, prominent and well to do farmer living about five miles northeast of Verdigre was fatally injured Saturday evening when the car he was driving overturned several times after hitting a culvert that was projecting up above the level of the road between the Jelen store and the Jelen cemetery west of Verdigre. His lungs were pierced by several ribs that were fractured from his impact with the steering wheel. Mr. Hansen drove to O'Neill that morning taking Mrs. Hansen there to visit with her parents and was enroute home to do his chores when the accident occurred. It is reported that he was driving at a high rate of speed when his car hit the culvert. He was driving a six-cylinder Buick. Albert Jiracek, who was bringing in a load of hay on his truck arrived on the scene shortly after the accident occurred and at once summoned Dr. Kucera, who brought him to town. Mr. Hansen passed away a few minutes after he had been taken inside the hospital. He was conscious and in his right mind until the end and expressed a wish that he could see his wife and children yet. ------------------------------------- Obituary H.P. Hansen was born at Sparta, Knox County, Nebraska on May 20, 1882 and in the community of his birthplace he lived all his life. He died August 28, 1926 at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was married to Teresia Kelly in November 1912 and to this union four children were born, two girls and two boys. The deceased was a splendid citizen respected by every acquaintance. He was a good friend and good neighbor and the esteem in which he was held was proven by the vast number of friends who came to pay their last respects to the departed one. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and four children, a father, mother, four sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. N.P. Neilson from the Danish Lutheran Church at Winnetoon and interment was made in the Creighton cemetery. The Citizen desires to be enumerated with the many friends of the departed and unites in extending sincere sympathy.
