Ernest P. Wood being in charge of the service, assisted by the Rev. A. J. Orr. Numerous relatives, friends and neighbors were in attendance. The six sons of the deceased lady bore her body to its last resting place in St. John’s cemetery on the 7th Line, of Mono. The late Mrs. Speers, whose maiden name was Hannah Anderson, was a daughter of Robert and Jane Anderson and was born on 20 sideroad and the fifth line of Mono, upon which property stands the Ebenezer church. She was married to John Speers December 24th, 1884, and therefore experienced nearly forty-nine years of married life. Her mother’s name was Jane McBride. The numerous floral tributes included wreaths from the Husband and the Boys, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Duke, Reeve William A. and Mrs. Donaldson, Mr. and Mrs. John Leask, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Speers. The late Mrs. Speers is survived by six sons and two daughters, John Wesley, Toronto; Thomas James, Georgetown; Robert Samuel, Palgrave; Edward Wellington, Basil Hector and George Wilmot, of Mono; Georgina, who is Mrs. Gillespie, Toronto, and Edna Jane, of Toronto. In addition to her husband and children, there are also left to mourn her loss, two brothers and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Brinkman, Alton, Thomas James Anderson, Alliston; John, Calgary; William, Mono Centre, and Fleming, of Mono. With wonderful courage and unfailing faith Mrs. Speers faced a very heavy trial of failing health and extreme physical difficulties, with a remarkable spirit of Christian fortitude and cheerfulness. She will be missed in the neighborhood and in the home. She retained consciousness until the last and the end came almost unobserved as a happy and welcome release.
