The cause of her death was paralysis. With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brown, Hannah moved to Kansas in 1854, locating at Ozawkie. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Herman Newman of Valley Falls, then Grasshopper Falls, April 3, 1864. Her home has been at Valley Falls ever since. To this union were born three children, Jesse, Hallock and Albert. When but five years old Hallock was killed by a steer on the Newman hill farm. The roadway over that high point is still called the Newman hill. The father, the well known farmer and veterinary, died Dec. 26, 1892. For a number of years, since selling the old farm, Mrs. Newman has lived in town in her own cottage home. She is survived by her two sons, Jesse and Albert, a number of relatives and many friends of a new generation. But few of her early day neighbors are left. She was reared under the influence of the Dunkard church. The funeral was held from the Christian church, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Chas. H. Kimball conducting the services in a large presence. The burial was in Rose Hill cemetery by the side of her long departed companion. The Farmers' Vindicator (Valley Falls) Friday, 15 June 1917
