Gregg, Well Known and Highly Esteemed Lady Died Monday Morning After a Long Illness Mrs. Hannah Gregg, wife of W.E. Gregg passed away at her home Monday morning at about 6 o'clock, after having been confined to her home since April when she suffered a stroke of apoplexy. She had been in poor health for some time prior to suffering the stroke. She was 66 years, 10 months and 13 days of age at the time of her death. Funeral Services were held at the McCune M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. L. Hardy, and burial took place at the McCune Cemetery. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Miss Della Miller, Mrs. Grant Whitlock, W. H. Gracey and H. I. Gaddis, with Miss Freda Wilson as accompanist. Pall Bearers were nephews of the Mrs. Gregg as follows: Maurice Harley, Forrest Harley, Dr. W. R. Harley, Kenneth Harley, Emmett Harley and Wilson Gregg. The services were largely attended, and there was a large and beautiful floral offering. Hannah Harley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Harley was born in Rock Island, Illinois, October 16, 1865 and came with her parents to Kansas in the spring of 1866, making the trip overland in a covered wagon to a claim two miles west and two and one-half miles south of the present location of McCune, which Mr. Harley had previously staked. They made their home on the claim until 1885, when the family moved to McCune, where she was married to W.E. Gregg on October 11th of the same year. To this union four children were born, a son Louie dying in infancy. She is survived by her widower, one son, Cecil of McCune, two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Colburn of McCune and Mrs. Helen Weathers of Tulsa, Okla. There are also the following close relatives: One brother, G.W. Harley of McCune, two sisters, Mrs. John Martin of Parsons, and Mrs. Edw. Munday of McCune; three grandchildren, Margaret Alice Gregg, Helen Marie and Harley Gregg Colburn, all of McCune, a number of nephews and nieces and a whole community of friends. Mrs. Gregg was a charter member of the McCune Chapter Order Eastern Star, was past matron of the chapter, and also served the Grand Chapter as District Aide. She was an enthusiastic worker in the social and civic organizations of McCune, and was always for the improvement of her community. Mrs. Gregg united with the Methodist Church of McCune August 12, 1888 and took an active interest in her church and Sunday School affairs during her 44 years of membership. For many years she was the teacher of older ladies of the Sunday Schook, and the class as well as the members of the Eastern Star attended the funeral in a body. Mrs. Gregg's life was one of service. She was always of a sweet Christian disposition, and she was one of the finest women who ever lived in McCune. Her going is not only a loss to the family and loved ones, but she will be sadly missed by the whole community.
