Description	:	MRS. ENOS CROWELL On Christmas Day, in 1843, a child was born to John and Nacy Mohler, whom they named Hannah. On a farm near Bradford, in Dark county, Ohio, in a family of six, she grew up thru childhood and girlhood. When 19 years old, she married Enos Crowell; the ceremony being performed on Feb. 5, 1862, by Elder Isaac Miller. Three children were born to them; Reuben, Mina and Ida. On a farm near Bradford, in Dark county, Ohio, in a family of six, she grew up thru childhood and girlhood. When 19 years old, she married Enos Crowell; the ceremony being performed on Feb. 5, 1862, by Elder Isaac Miller. Three children were born to them; Reuben, Mina and Ida. In 1868 a new home was begun at Woodland, Michigan. During the following 30 years the children grew up and married; all moving to Gladwin county. The mother and father followed them in 1898, and located near Beaverton, where they both lived during the remainder of their lives. Reuben, the only son, died in 1911, and the father five years later on Sept. 21, 1916. She united with the church of the Brethren when 18 years old, being baptized by Elder Joseph Ressor, of the Harris Creek church, Ohio. Her religious faith was dominant through-out her life, expressing itself in much study and thought, and loving service. The church was always one of her chief interests. Both the Woodland and Beaverton churches were organized in her home, she being the last charter member of the Woodland country church. Though she read widely in books of many kinds, the Bible was her book of books. Her mind was keen and strong to the end. A long, useful life was ended on Feb. 21, 1929, when she died. She had lived 85 years, 1 month and 26 days. Grandma Crowel will be remembered in the church, the community, and her family group; for her kindliness of spirit, her untiring industry, her optimism and the simple beauty of her straight-forward life. As one of the pioneers of this county, she is known by many as a real friend and neighbor, when living was a hard struggle. Many who never knew her personally, know a bit of her through the flowers that grew around her, that she loved all her life and spent most of her time with during the last years of her life. She leaves a large family circle: Mrs. Reuben Crowel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Archie VanDyke and family; Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Geiser and family. She had 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. She touched the earth And from it came Flowers of gold And white and flame. Blossoms of faith And hope born new. She touched God's hand In dim amase, And bore his fruit Thru many days. Now in his love, So high so deep, She dreams new flowers In her sleep!
