Description	:	Hannah O'Donnel was born in Hales Corners, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, April 2, 1847 of Irish parents who emigrated from Ireland in 1840. Hannah grew up in Hales Corners and went to Milwukee as a dressmaker. It was there she met and married Edward J. Quinn, October 29, 1873. They lived on a farm in Racine County until June 4, 1883. He returned to Wisconsin, sold his farm,... Read More	Hannah O'Donnel was born in Hales Corners, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, April 2, 1847 of Irish parents who emigrated from Ireland in 1840. Hannah grew up in Hales Corners and went to Milwukee as a dressmaker. It was there she met and married Edward J. Quinn, October 29, 1873. They lived on a farm in Racine County until June 4, 1883. On that day, Hannah and their four children left for Hyde County, South Dakota. Edward had previously filed on a claim in Chapelle Township, sixteen miles southwest of Highmore. He returned to Wisconsin, sold his farm, loaded two emigrant railroad cars with a pre-cut frame house, some livestock and furniture and shipped all to South Dakota. The house, when erected, was the first frame house built in Chapelle township and remained in it's original place. Edward lived there for 37 years until his death on December 16, 1920. Hannah continued to live on the farm with her son, John. The family attended church in Harrold or Stephan by oxcart. Priests often stopped at the Quinn home, have mass and stay all night. Hannah was a fine seamstress, and was also known for her wonderful butter, which she made in the summer and packed in three and five gallon jars. She would take the butter to town to sell. In 1923, Hannah suffered a broken hip. Because of her impaired health, she and son, John moved into Highmore in 1925, where on September 28, 1928, she passed away.
