Young and Mrs. Hannah Bingham, all of Dickinson County, Iowa." -------- Obituary In Spokane, Washington, on Friday, December 3, 1909, Mrs. H. Young, aged 76 years, 11 months and 27 days. Hannah Robinson was born in the state of Maine, on December 6, 1832. When a little girl of but six years she and her three younger brothers sustained a great loss in the death of their good mother. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she was born, but later the family moved to Wisconsin, where in 1863, she was married to Joseph L. Bingham, and a few years later they settled on a homestead in Lloyd township, Dickinson county, Iowa. Here she cheerfully shared all the hardships and privations incident to pioneer life, in order that she might make a home for her four children. She was indeed a faithful wife, a loving mother and devoted friend. In 1881 Mr. Bingham died leaving her with three children, the oldest a girl of fourteen. Three months later she was again called upon to mourn the loss of a daughter, Ida May, who was laid away beside the husband. It was a hard struggle, but she bore it bravely. The broken family then left the farm and established a home at Okoboji. Here a few years later she was married to David L. Young. About twenty years ago the son, Fred, having taken a business course, went west to Spokane, where he established himself in business. For some time she made her home with Fred, but since his marriage she has divided her time between the home of her son and that of her daughter, and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B.P. Henderson. Besides her children she leaves four brothers, two resididing [residing] in Kansas, one in Dakota and one in Wisconsin. An abiding faith in God and a constant trust in the Savior was hers at all times in recent years. The body was brought from Spokane to Spirit Lake and on Wednesday, December 8th, was laid beside that of her husband and daughter. [Published in the Milford Mail, Dec. 16, 1909] --------- "Mrs. B.P. Henderson came from Cherokee Wednesday, accompanied by her private nurse, to be present at the burial of her mother, Mrs. Hannah Young. The Beacon is pleased to note Mrs. Henderson is much improved in Health, She returned to Cherokee this morning." [Published in the Spirit lake Beacon, Dec. 12, 1909] --------
