Read More	Elgin Echo 04 June 1959 Obituary of Hannah Lantz Hannah (Schoien) Lantz eldest daughter of Ole and Ellen Schoien was born in Hollendale, Wise., on July 13, 1881 and went to her eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, having reached the age of seventy-seven years. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, but later in life together with her husband became a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Elgin where she attended until ill health and disability forced her to remain at home. While still in her childhood her family moved to Austin, Minn., where she received her education. She also attended Southern Minnesota Normal College of that city. On October 30, 1901, she was united in marriage to William Lantz of Elgin. Six children, two daughters and four sons were born to this union. Mother spent all of her married life on a farm east of Elgin where she raised her family besides helping with the work around the farm and in the fields. A good mother, uncomplaining she made the best of what life had to offer. Even during illness and failing health these past years she expressed more concern for her children and others than her own welfare. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Herman and Julius and one sister Elizabeth. Left to mourn her passing are all of her six children, Winnie, Mrs. Ed Butikofer and Alice, Mrs. Ray Chapman of Elgin, Leslie iand Wilmer of Elkader, Raymond of Postville and Elmer of Elgin. One sister, Mrs. John Lantz and a brother, M. C. Schoien of Hollywood, Calif. Following the services her body was laid to rest beside that of her husband on the family lot of the Elgin Cemetery. Casket bearers were six grand sons, Lyle and Gene Butikofer, LaVern and Gene Lantz, Bob Chapman and Duane Frieden. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who so kindly assisted us during our recent bereavement. Special thanks to the Rev. Caspers for his visits to the home and hospital and for his comforting words of assurance, to the quartet who sang, and to the organist, also to those who sent flowers and all other contributions.
