Read More	Elgin Echo 23 Dec 1954 Obituary of William Lantz William Lantz, son of Joel and Eliza Lantz, was born May 25, 1878, near Elgin in Clayton County, and departed this life at the Postville hospital on Friday, Dec. 10, at the age of seventy-six years. His entire life was spent in this vicinity where he was engaged in farming. Hving retired from active duty a number of years ago, he made his home on the farm where he lived until was called to the Great Beyond. On Oct. 30, 1901 he was united in marriage to Hannah Schoien of Austin, Minn. To this union six children were born: Minnie (Mrs. Ed Butikofer), Alice (Mrs Ray Chapman), Leslie, Elmer, Raymond, and Wilmer. A kind husband and father and a good provider, his concern was always for the welfare of his family. A good neighbor and friend, he held the respect of all who knew him. He was a lover of the simple home life and his most pleasant hours were spent with members of his family. He received his education in a rural school in that community. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church, where he attended services until ill health forced him to remain at home. There he spent many hours listening to the Word of God by radio. Surviving besides his widow and children are a brother, John, of Elgin, 12 grandchldren and 9 great grandchildren, also a large number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. John Friederich, who passed away in 1918. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 14, from the Muehlethaler funeral home and St. Paul's Methodist church with the Rev. E.G. Steinman officiating. Musical selections were by Mrs. E.G. Steinman, Mrs. Mel Kohler, G.J. Mosby and C.B. Schori, accompanied by Donna Meinahrd, organist. Casket bearers were Maynard, Walter, and Arthur Lants, John Friederich Jr, Irvin Schoien, and DeWayne Frieden. Internment was made in Elgin cemetery.
