Hannah Shea, daughter of James and Catherine Shea, immigrated from County Kerry, Ireland with her brother Michael and mother Catherine (Moran) Shea in about 1868. In 1870 she was the wife of Patrick Kenerton, and they lived with Michael and Catherine in Norwich, Connecticut. Hannah Shea, daughter of James and Catherine Shea, immigrated from County Kerry, Ireland with her brother Michael and mother Catherine (Moran) Shea in about 1868. In 1870 she was the wife of Patrick Kenerton, and they lived with Michael and Catherine in Norwich, Connecticut. Her husband died in 1875 of phthisis, and Hannah lived on and off with her brother and mother until her second marriage to Thomas McCarthy on February 7, 1882 in Plainfield, Connecticut. During this marriage she lived in Plainfield, Connecticut. Michael's daughters would reminisce in later years about "going up to Plainfield to visit Auntie." Thomas McCarthy died in 1889 in Plainfield. In 1895, at about the age of 55, Hannah died of breast cancer at her brother Michael's home in Norwich. She is recorded as residing in Plainfield and being the widow of Thomas McCarthy at the time of her death. She is buried with her brother's family. Neither of her husbands is buried with her.
