W. Holmes. She had suffered for some time from trouble with the heart brought on by old age. Hannah Snell was born in Onondaga county, N. Y., May 27, 1817, and at her death was almost ninety-three years old. When quite young she was married to William Benjamin Holmes and to them was born one child, Geo. W. Holmes, who died last September at the age of seventy-six. Her husband died and when her son was ten years old she married Rev. Amassa Graves, a young Methodist preacher. Soon after her second marriage Mrs. Graves adopted a babe the son of a friend and reared him to manhood. After living in Wisconsin for some years Mr. and Mrs. Graves moved to Will county, Ill. He husband died in 1875, and after his death she lived with her adopted son until his death. In 1904 she came to Charter Oak to live with her son, Geo. W. Holmes. Mrs. Holmes has cared for her with a perfect devotion. Mrs. Graves was devout christian and in her suffering prayed to be taken home. She lived to see her great, great grand child. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Friday morning conducted by Rev. Cathcart. The remains were laid at rest beside her son in the Charter Oak cemetery. The grand children were all notified but two families were able to be present, those of Duer. Holmes of Ute and S. M. Stouffer of Sac City.
