Read More	From The Wolbach Messenger, Thursday, January 31, 1974, transcribed by Linda Berney: Hans Hansen died Sunday morning in a Grand Island hospital. Mr. Hansen was born March 17, 1899 in a sod house southeast of Wolbach, the son of Andrew and Johanna Hansen. He was raised in the Wolbach community and received his education in the local schools. He married the former Daisy Perry of Wolbach on July 26, 1923 in St. Paul. They resided in Wolbach where he operated an oil business until 1937 when they moved to Grand Island where he was employed by the Champlin Refining Co. until retiring in 1964. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Wolbach transferring later to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. He was a member of the Wolbach Masonic Lodge No. 292 A.F. & A.M. joining the order in 1923 and later transferring to St. Paul Lodge No. 82 A.F. and A.M. and also was a member of Wolbach O.E.S. NO. 267. He is survived by his widow; one son Col. LeRoy Hansen of Barsdale A.F.B., La; one daughter, Mrs. Sherry Hansen Yates of Houston, Texas and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. ~~~~~~~~~~ This humorous article was published in the Wolbach Messenger in 1923, and reprinted on August 1, 2013 in the 90 Years Ago Column, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hansen, the newlyweds, were taken on a forced joy ride last Friday evening by their friends, and if there was a street in town that was not traveled, it was the one leading directly to the cemetery. A. J. Larsen headed the procession in his truck. In the back end of the truck was Mrs. Hansen doing the family washing and hanging the clothes on the line. Following the truck was attached an oil wagon. On top of the wagon was Mr. Hansen lying in a well provised bed taking his snooze while his wife did the washing. A large number of autos completed the procession, and it was a ride Mr. and Mrs Hansen will no doubt remember the balance of their lives as tin cans and other "musical" instruments were used to attract attention and make life as pleasant (?) as possible for the bride and groom.
