Description	:	LYNN GROVE - H. T. Ness, early settler in Clay county, departed this life last Sunday, May 27, 1934, following a brief illness. He was 77 years, ten months and seven days of age. Mr. Ness was in good health until three years ago when he contracted the flu. He recovered but was left with a weakened heart which from time to time threatened his life. Mr. Ness was in good health until three years ago when he contracted the flu. He recovered but was left with a weakened heart which from time to time threatened his life. He is survived by his wife, seven sons and three daughters; Invald, Raymond, Carl, Henry, Fred and Leonard all of Linn Grove, Iowa, Thorvald of Lohrville, Iowa, Mrs. McCloud of Jeffers, Minn., Mrs. Glospy of Boone, Iowa, Mrs. Lund of Dunnell, Minn. One daughter died in childhood. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and also a number of friends. Two brothers and one sister live in Norway. Hans Thorstenson Ness was born in Hadeland, Norway, July 20,1856. In infancy he was brought to Christ through Holy Baptism. During his boyhood he attended the public schools of Norway. There he also received instruction in the fundamentals of religion. His elementary education was terminated by his confirmation at the age of 15 years. In the year 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Ingeborg Gulbranson who survives him. Two years later Mr. Ness emigrated to the United States with his wife and infant son. They arrived in Buena Vista county in the year 1878. Their first home was on a farm located about three miles south of Linn Grove. Some years later they moved on a farm one and a half miles south of town. Here they lived about twenty-seven years. Seven years ago they moved to their present home in Linn Grove.
