He died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. He was born June 11, 1933, in Beemer. He attended Beemer Public Schools, graduating from Beemer High School in 1951. Raasch, 69, of Beemer will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer. He died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. He was born June 11, 1933, in Beemer. He attended Beemer Public Schools, graduating from Beemer High School in 1951. After graduation he worked with his father in the carpentry business prior to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-56 during the Korean War. Upon returning he continued to work with his father as they constructed several area churches and was later employed at Beemer Lumber. He married Rosemary Fehliman on May 26, 1957, in Beemer. In 1961, he became a feed salesman for Walnut Grove Feeds and retired in 1994 due to health reasons. He also raised hogs and had started the Pender Pig Hog Co-op and Produce a Pig Hog Co-op. He also was instrumental in starting Hilltop Feed Service north of Beemer. In August 2000, he entered the Colonial Haven Nursing Home. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as trustee, treasurer and chairman of the building committee for the educational building, Sunday school superintendent for 18 years and was an active member in the church choir. He was currently a member of Beemer American Legion Post 159 of Beemer. He also had been a member of the Cuming Choraliers. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Matthew Raasch of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; five brothers, Adolph Jr. (and wife, Beverly) Raasch and Terry(and wife, Cindy) Raasch, all of Beemer, Lyle (and wife, Mary) Raasch of Kearney, Dallas Raasch of Harlan, Iowa, and Dean Raasch ofPhoenix; and two sisters, Orphia (Mrs. Warren) Ackerman and Elgene (Mrs. Lyman) Brown, all of Beemer. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. The Rev. David List will officiate today's service. Visitation will continue 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral. Burial of the cremains will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Beemer Cemetery. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer is in charge of arrangements.
