Description	:	"The Herald" (Piedmont, W.Va.) Friday 19 January 1894: "Mr. Harmon Brown died Tuesday night. Mr Brown was born in Hanover, Germany in 1838. He came to this country when he was only four years of age. He did his first work in the mines at Pompey Smash. From there he went to the old Hampshire mine of West Virginia, thence to Elk Garden. Eleven years ago he was appointed Superintendent of the Potomac mines at this place. About three years ago he was made General Superintendent of all the Black, Sheridan, Wilson Company's interest... Eleven years ago he was appointed Superintendent of the Potomac mines at this place. About three years ago he was made General Superintendent of all the Black, Sheridan, Wilson Company's interest in this section, which position he held at the time of his death. Mr Brown was an ardent Democrat, but never held any public office, though often solicited to become a candidate. He leaves six children, two sons and three daughters, unmarried, and one daughter is the wife of Mr. James A. Welsh, a clerk in the Government Printing Office at Washington, D. C. Mr. Henry Brown, of the firm of Sanders & Co. of Cumberland and John A. Brown, Marshall and Health Officer of Avondale, Ohio are brothers,. Mrs. Henry Lane of Cumberland is a sister and another sister is in the convent connected with Corpus Christi church at Newport, Kentucky. Mr Brown was an active member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, of this place, where the funeral will take place next Friday morning. The funeral arrangements are in charge of Mr. Alex S. Hutson, of Piedmont, who is acting for the Potomac Coal Company. The interment will be at Westernport."
