He died at the Chariton Manor on Aug. 31, 1981 at the age of 87 years and 5 months. He was graduated from Indianola High School and attended Simpson College in Indianola. Halloway OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 10, 1981 TRUMBO Harmon P. Trumbo, son of William and Minnie Trumbo, was born in Clarke County, Iowa on March 25, 1894. He died at the Chariton Manor on Aug. 31, 1981 at the age of 87 years and 5 months. He was graduated from Indianola High School and attended Simpson College in Indianola. On Jan. 27, 1918, he was united in marriage to Florence Currier. To this union were born three children: Charlene, Robert and Ronald. Florence preceded him in death in June of 1926. He married Pauline Wilson in Nov. of 1932. He began farming in Murray, later moving to a farm near Chariton in 1921. After leaving the farm in 1947, he worked as a township assessor for many years. He also served as a director and officer of South Central Mutual Insurance Company until 1979, and worked for A.S.C.S. for several years. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chariton for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruby and Grace, two brothers, Glenn and Charles, and a grandson, Craig Trumbo. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; daughter, Charlene Meyer and her husband, Virgil of Chariton; son Robert and his wife, Elsie of San Diego, Calif.; and son, Ronald and his wife, Bonnie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one granddaughter; 11 grandsons; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rolla of Midland, Texas. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 1981 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton with Rev. Eugene Koth conducting. Pallbearers were grandsons Dan Trumbo, Doug Trumbo, Nick Trumbo, Stephen Meyer, James Meyer and Raymond Meyer. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Darlene Arnold
